Leasing Lawyer

Job Summary

As a leasing lawyer, you will assist numerous SMEs, startups, franchisors, shopping centres and large corporates with a broad range of property and leasing needs. This role suits a versatile lawyer looking to grow their skillset in a fast-paced, friendly and collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake reviews and drafting of heads of agreement, leases, agreements for leases, licences, subleases, renewals, surrenders and assignments of leases.
  • Conduct due diligence lease reviews for M&A transactions and analyse lease portfolios for assignments of lease and change of control provisions for company restructures.
  • Provide advice on retail lease legislation and broader property laws.
  • Act as advocate for both tenant and landlord clients, ensuring their interests are effectively represented.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across disciplines for disputes and acquisitions and disposals with a leasing component.
  • Liaise regularly with clients, including running advice consults over video calls and providing strong written technical advice.
  • Assist with complex lease negotiations.
  • Manage client leasing portfolios and provide strategic advice.
  • Utilize the PEXA platform.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in legislation and market practice to provide proactive guidance.
  • Manage, supervise and coach junior lawyers.
  • Contribute to team training and developing initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain lease precedents.
