Senior Data Manager Role

This Senior Data Manager role is an exciting opportunity to join a leading retail company and play a key part in shaping the future of our data management systems.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the transition of our data lake/warehouse from Woolworths to our organisation. This involves managing dependencies, aligning stakeholders, and ensuring the transition meets commercial, technical and business requirements without disrupting our daily operations.

This is a collaborative role that requires working with multiple teams, including project management office, data and AI, other transformation programs, technology and business teams to ensure successful delivery and alignment with our strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Engage with Woolworths transition teams to align on approach, dependencies, milestones, risks and issues impacting the transition
  • Obtain validation of the Business Case based on Best, Worst, Most Likely scenario construct, as well as continual validation of the Business Case with the Project Sponsor
  • Operate within requirements specified by the organisation's operating model, including Delivery Framework and Governance Framework
  • Coordinated end-to-end management of all stage gates in accordance with the organisation's requirements
  • Ensure all project component delivery/operational/regulatory/reputation risk impacts are maintained within acceptable and agreed parameters
  • Ensure Architectural alignment with the organisation's Business & Technology requirements
  • Ensure supplier vendors are fully aligned with project goals, the organisation's Project Management requirements & Values
  • Lead transition of our data analytics capabilities, ensuring alignment with business and technical requirements
  • Coordinate technical and business readiness activities, including operational cutover and readiness
  • Ensure post-migration stabilisation, track transition and operational performance and support incident resolution during initial transition
  • Implement governance and documentation frameworks to track test cases, results, and issues
  • Manage cross-functional collaboration across data&ai, technology and vendor teams to drive effective delivery and outcomes
Essential Qualifications:
  • Proven experience (5+ years) as a Project Manager or similar delivery leadership role in a large, complex organisation
  • Experience delivering cloud data warehousing build and/or transformation projects
  • Excellent communication, time management, and organisational skills
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and collaborate effectively with others
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies, tools, and techniques
  • Proficient in use of applications including but not limited to presentation, spreadsheet, and word processing applications
