About the Role

The Victorian Government is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Aboriginal Community Liaison Officer to join our team. As an Aboriginal Community Liaison Officer, you will work closely with Corrections Victoria to provide support and advice to Aboriginal people in custody.

About the Opportunity

This is a unique opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of Aboriginal people in Victoria. As an Aboriginal Community Liaison Officer, you will have the opportunity to work with a diverse range of stakeholders, including Aboriginal community leaders, Corrections Victoria staff, and other government agencies. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to the development of policies and programs that aim to improve the lives of Aboriginal people in Victoria.

Key Responsibilities

The key responsibilities of this role include:

• Providing cultural, spiritual and wellbeing support to Aboriginal people in custody

• Coordinating cultural activities and programs to support the rehabilitation and reintegration of Aboriginal people in custody

• Providing advice and support to Corrections Victoria staff on Aboriginal cultural issues

• Working with Aboriginal community leaders to develop and implement policies and programs that aim to improve the lives of Aboriginal people in Victoria

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate individual who has a deep understanding of the Victorian Aboriginal community, both society and culture, and the issues impacting on it. You will have a strong understanding of case management and be able to communicate sensitively and effectively with members of the Victorian Aboriginal community. You will also have the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and be able to contribute to the development of policies and programs that aim to improve the lives of Aboriginal people in Victoria.
