
Community Resilience Specialist

The Australian Red Cross is part of the world's largest humanitarian movement. We support and empower people and communities in times of vulnerability.
This role will be based in North Queensland (Townsville) and will employ a strengths-based community development approach to strengthen community capacity to prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies.
You will lead engagement and advocacy activities, and support workshops and training. You will work closely with Local and District Disaster Management Groups, councils, community organisations, and volunteers to build local knowledge, capability, and confidence.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading engagement and advocacy activities

- Working closely with Local and District Disaster Management Groups, councils, community organisations, and volunteers
We are seeking an individual who has relevant experience in emergency management, project management or community engagement and/or community development. You must have strong interpersonal skills, presentation skills, and the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Required skills and qualifications:
- Relevant four-year degree with one year of relevant experience or three year degree with two years of relevant experience
- Prior experience in emergency management, project management or community engagement and/or community development
- Strong interpersonal skills and presentation skills
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
