">About the RoleThis is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team and play a vital role in strengthening community capacity to prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies.
In this position, you will lead engagement and advocacy activities, and support workshops and training. You will work closely with Local and District Disaster Management Groups, councils, community organisations, and volunteers to build local knowledge, capability, and confidence.
You may also be involved in assisting during disaster response to address immediate community needs. This dynamic role demands flexibility, adaptability, and a commitment to continuous learning in a fast-paced environment.
">Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement strategies to strengthen community resilience
- Lead engagement and advocacy activities with key stakeholders
- Support workshops and training programs to build community capacity
- Work collaboratively with disaster management groups and other stakeholders
- Assist with disaster response efforts as needed
- Relevant degree or equivalent experience
- Prior experience in emergency management, project management, or community engagement
- Ability to set priorities, plan and organise own work and that of others
- Previous experience in delivering project outcomes
- Ability to effectively support communities before, during, or after a disaster
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders
- Interpersonal skills, presentation skills and ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
