Gold mining is a dynamic industry that requires innovative thinking and expertise to drive success. At our operation, we are seeking a Senior Operations Engineer who will spearhead business improvement initiatives and contribute to shaping the future of gold mining in Western Australia.

About the Opportunity

This newly created position involves collecting and analyzing key performance indicators, physical data, and cost metrics related to the budget and mine plan. The successful candidate will track and analyze mining cost metrics to ensure efficient operations, monitor mine performance to meet production targets and maintain safety compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze operational data to assess KPIs and cost metrics, aligning activities with objectives.
  • Forecast physicals and cost performance using historical data, trends, and mine planning models.
  • Optimize mining methods by improving techniques, advising technical teams on mine design and ground support systems from an operational perspective.
  • Evaluate equipment utilization by reviewing machinery performance and collaborating with maintenance teams to optimize maintenance schedules.
  • Conduct operational audits, preparing reports and proposing improvements for efficiency.
  • Provide technical training to support team adoption of best practices and operational standards.
  • Ensure safety compliance by identifying and mitigating risks while upholding safety protocols in underground mining activities.
  • Manage explosives use on-site, ensuring legislative compliance and fulfilling duties as Appointed Explosives Officer.
Requirements
  • Experience in mine planning and/or underground shift management.
  • Behavior consistent with company values.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Ability to plan and work effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Flexibility to adapt to improved procedures and practices.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Familiarity with associated standard work procedures.
  • Practical and theoretical knowledge for the use of underground long hole drilling.
