Development Compliance Specialist

This is a challenging opportunity to contribute to our Compliance team's success.

We seek an experienced professional who can deliver high-quality work and provide innovative solutions to complex environmental, regulatory, and compliance matters.

  • Investigate and regulate under the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 and other relevant legislation to protect the environment of Camden and ensure community health and safety.
  • Assess, investigate, and take action regarding land use activities and unauthorized building works in accordance with the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act, Development Consents, and State Policies.

Key requirements include:

  • Qualification in a related discipline and/or relevant experience in Development Control, Building Surveying, land use planning, or Local Government Investigations.
  • Broad understanding of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 and other relevant planning and environmental legislation, including State Environmental Planning Policies.
  • Sound understanding of the Swimming Pools Act and Local Government Act.
  • Effective communication skills, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Experience in Legal/Court processes as they relate to compliance functions.
  • A Class C driver's license.

Desirable skills include:

  • Tertiary qualification in a related discipline (e.g., Building Surveying, Planning, or Environmental Management).
  • Experience or qualifications in inspecting, assessing, and certifying Swimming Pool Barriers.
  • Broad understanding of the Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997.
