Job Title: Night Ranger

We are seeking a Night Ranger to join our Environment, Sustainability & Compliance team on a casual basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality control and enforcement of various requirements under Local Government, Environmental Planning & Assessment, Public Spaces (Unattended Property), Roads and Protection of the Environment Operations Acts.

The role entails conducting extensive clear and concise communication with residents and members of the public, detecting and investigating illegal dumping of rubbish and refuse, enforcing provisions regarding non-companion animals, trolleys and vehicles, and undertaking outdoor duties during inclement weather.

Responsibilities:
  • Conducting regular patrols and monitoring the Strathfield Municipality LGA for illegal trading by itinerant vendors
  • Detecting, investigating and enforcing provisions regarding breaches of legislation in council parks and reserves
  • Liaising with Environmental Health Officers and Environment team in relation to commercial, complex or hazardous incidents
  • Completing all associated paperwork and updating all relevant registers or databases
  • Reporting all incidents of illegal activity, vandalism, graffiti or damage to Council assets
Requirements:
  • Relevant building tertiary qualifications such as Certificate III/IV in Local Government (Regulatory Services) or Diploma of Local Government (Regulatory Services)
  • SDRO / SEINS training
  • Current NSW Class C Driver's Licence
  • First Aid Certificate (Desired)
  • Minimum 2 years' relevant work experience in similar or same position
