Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced professional to join our team as a Welfare and Engagement Officer. This is a permanent full-time position based near Perth, working 38 hours a week on a 7 day roster.

As a Welfare and Engagement Officer, you will be responsible for developing, planning, managing and delivering structured and unstructured programs and activities designed to provide educational and recreational opportunities, and meaningful activities that will enhance the mental health and welfare of individuals in immigration detention.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement effective programs and activities that meet the needs of our clients;
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, including government departments, health services, and community organizations;
  • Maintain accurate records and reports related to program delivery and client engagement;
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to client welfare and engagement.
Requirements:
  • Certificate III in an associated discipline such as sports and recreation, social/community work and/or learning and development;
  • Minimum of 2 years' (full time equivalent) experience in managing and conducting structured programs and activities for adults or families;
  • Experience in working with people from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) and different religious backgrounds;
  • Understand risk management principles;
  • Plan, manage and respectfully deliver structured programs for people in our care, that take into consideration the special interests, skills and needs of people from CALD and different religious background.
