Welfare and Engagement Officer

About the Role

We are focused on providing quality Welfare and Engagement (W&E) services and support that provide detainees with skills, confidence, and opportunities to proactively engage and explore options pertaining to their health and wellbeing.

  • Develop, plan, manage and deliver structured and unstructured Programmes and Activities (P&A)
  • Provide educational and recreational opportunities, and meaningful activities that will enhance the mental health and welfare of individuals in immigration detention
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Maintain a current Australian Federal Police Clearance
  • National Police Check (AFP)
  • Hold and maintain HLTAID009 Provide CPR and HLTAID011 Provide First Aid certificates

Required Skills and Qualifications

1. Certificate III in an associated discipline such as sports and recreation, social/community work and/or learning and development

2. Minimum of 2 years' experience in managing and conducting structured programs and activities for adults or families

3. Experience in working with people from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) and different religious backgrounds
