Senior Python Developer

 

We're looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Python Developer to join our Data Platforms team. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in developing and maintaining our platform's ecosystem of toolchains, which are used by thousands of engineers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and deliver high-quality Python solutions on GitHub Enterprise, ensuring seamless integration with our DevOps capabilities in the cloud.
  • Develop and maintain Software Engineering best practices, standards, and patterns relied upon by hundreds of engineering squads.
  • Provide thought leadership on Software Engineering patterns and practices, driving continued adoption and excellence within the team.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure effective software engineering knowledge sharing across hundreds of teams working in thousands of repositories.
  • Apply Agile development methodologies to solutions and tooling that lower the total cost of ownership through reusable assets.

 

Requirements:

  • Deep technical knowledge in Python, ideally with previous experience in Python migrations.
  • Excellent Git skills, with experience working in large team environments.
  • Advantageous if you have experience with Bitbucket and GitHub.
  • Strong understanding of complex Python applications in Production environments.
  • Experience with Python Packaging Authority, DevOps Platforms (Jenkins, GitHub), and other scripting languages (Scala/Java/Groovy/Bash/PowerShell).
  • Knowledge of Test Automation and automation tools (pytest, mock, sphinx, black, flake) and Build Automation Tools (Python Build/Setuptools) is a plus.
