Network Planning Opportunities

Job Description

As a key member of the network planning team, you will lead strategic planning and development of the subtransmission (66kV) network. This involves conducting detailed analysis of network constraints and developing augmentation or support options.

  • Deliver power system studies using simulation tools and provide technical guidance to stakeholders.
  • Prepare long-term network development plans and economic analyses.
  • Specify network development expenditure for asset management and regulatory submissions.

You will also lead Regulatory Investment Tests and Electricity Distribution Price Reset proposals, ensuring compliance with National Electricity Rules and Victorian Distribution Code. Additionally, you will maintain bushfire safety compliance through REFCL planning and implementation.

Excellent communication skills are essential for liaising with AEMO, AER, councils, developers, and other stakeholders. You will also be responsible for evaluating embedded generation and major load connection proposals, as well as supporting non-network solutions to reduce demand and defer investment.

A strong understanding of National Electricity Rules, regulatory frameworks, and energy markets is required, along with experience in economic assessments, bushfire compliance, and stakeholder engagement.

The successful applicant will have a degree-qualified electrical engineer with extensive experience in network planning and asset management, proficient in PSS/E, PowerFactory, PSCAD, and Python programming highly desirable.
