Job Title: Strategic Planning Section Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled strategic planning professional to lead our dedicated team in delivering expert planning services and technical advice to the community.

This role will see you combine your strategic leadership skills with hands-on involvement in land use policy, infrastructure contributions, and heritage conservation, driving high-quality urban outcomes aligned with our Community Strategic Plan.

As a key leader, you'll champion our organization's values of Cooperation, Respect, Excellence, and Wellbeing, while supporting the development of well-designed precincts and public spaces.

This role also offers the opportunity for rotational development across equivalent management positions within our service unit.

Main Responsibilities
  • Developing and implementing strategic plans to achieve city-wide objectives
  • Providing technical advice and guidance on land use policy, infrastructure contributions, and heritage conservation
  • Liaising with internal stakeholders, including council members, to ensure alignment with organizational priorities
  • Leading a team of planners and coordinating their work to deliver high-quality projects
Requirements
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in planning or a related field
  • Proven experience in strategic planning, preferably in a local government setting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to think critically and develop innovative solutions
