Job Title:
Urban Forest Specialist
Maribyrnong City Council is seeking an experienced Urban Forest Specialist to join our multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the maintenance of our urban forest assets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake arboriculture and parks maintenance tasks and programs to meet council standards, policies, and management plans.
- Contribute to the maintenance and improvement of council's urban forest in accordance with contemporary arboriculture maintenance and tree development work practices and procedures.
- Provide support to the team leader by taking responsibility for diverse tasks as instructed to meet specified quality standards and agreed productivity outcomes.
- Deliver professional customer service to internal and external customers.
- Complete daily plant check sheets and defect reports in accordance with fleet maintenance procedures.
- Regularly maintain equipment and tools, including chainsaws and other specialized arboriculture equipment.
- Safely operate council plant and equipment, such as manual and mechanical cutting tools, elevated platform plant, trucks, travel towers, and associated equipment.
- Implement traffic management plans, job safety action plans, and adhere to safe work procedures for all operational activities.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Certificate III in Horticulture (Arboriculture) or equivalent qualification.
- Chainsaw Operators Certificate (Level 1/2).
- Heavy Rigid Vehicle License with experience driving above 15 tonnes, GCM.
- License to perform High Risk: Elevated Work Platform License.
- Traffic Management Certificate.
- Certificate II ESI Powerline Vegetation Control.
- Current Victorian Driver's License.
- Current Working with Children Check.
- No relevant criminal record found in a Police Check.
