About This Role

We are seeking a skilled Urban Forest Manager to lead our team in delivering high-quality urban forest management practices that promote climate resilience and improve the health and well-being of our community.

This role requires driving continuous improvement in urban forest management, developing Council's annual street and park tree planting programs, monitoring and tracking changes in Darebin's tree population and canopy cover, coordinating staff and contractors to deliver proactive and reactive works, protecting trees on private property in partnership with other departments, and overseeing Councils Electrical Lines Clearance Program.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of urban forest management principles and practices, as well as excellent leadership and communication skills. You will be responsible for leading a diverse team and working closely with other departments to achieve our goals.

Requirements
  • Tertiary qualification in arboriculture, environmental management, or urban forest management
  • Experience at local government in urban forest management
  • Ability to lead and manage a diverse team
  • Contract management skills
  • Sound communication in both writing and speaking skills
