Urban Forestry Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Urban Forestry Specialist to join our team.

About the Role:

  • This is an exciting opportunity to shape Banyule's urban forest and create a future environment for a healthy community.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for scheduling, selecting, and procuring trees for projects and the annual tree planting program in line with the Urban Forest Strategy.
  • You will provide expert advice on urban forest strategy and planning to ensure a positive legacy is left for the urban forest and the community.
  • Excellent customer service skills are essential in relation to tree planting and urban forestry.
  • Liaising with other units regarding tree planting projects is crucial to build collaborative and sustainable relationships.
  • Working with nurseries and the nursery team is necessary to ensure a diversity of trees and plants are available for planting projects.

Requirements:

  • A tertiary degree in arboriculture, horticulture, or landscape architecture, with relevant arboricultural experience and expertise.
  • Proven experience in implementing and delivering tree-planting programs.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing contracts, including developing tender specifications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to write reports, consult with the community, and handle external correspondence.
  • Experience providing expert arboricultural and landscape design advice for planning referrals.
  • A track record of delivering high-quality customer service.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and oversee staff, ensuring efficient use of resources to meet objectives.
