The Opportunity
Maribyrnong City Council is seeking an enthusiastic and team-oriented individual to join our Urban Forest Team as a new Arborist - Urban Forest.
Reporting to the Team Leader Urban Forest, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining the Council's urban forest assets. You will work collaboratively with a dedicated team, including the Urban Forest Planner, Tree Establishment Officer, Open Space team, and contractors to ensure the successful delivery of various tree maintenance programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake arboriculture and parks maintenance tasks and programs according to Council's standards, policies, and management plans.
- Contribute to the maintenance and improvement of Council's Urban Forest following contemporary arboriculture practices and procedures.
- Support the Team Leader Urban Forest by taking responsibility for a range of tasks to meet quality standards and productivity outcomes.
- Provide professional, efficient, and friendly customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
- Complete daily Plant Check Sheets and Defect Reports as per Fleet Maintenance procedures.
- Maintain all equipment and tools regularly, ensuring chainsaws and arboriculture equipment are properly maintained and fit for purpose.
- Safely operate Council plant and equipment, including cutting tools, elevated work platforms, trucks, and travel towers.
- Implement traffic management and Job Safety Action plans, adhering strictly to safe work procedures.
About You
We are seeking an enthusiastic Arborist with a passion for trees. You must possess strong communication and collaboration skills to foster a positive team environment.
To be considered, you should have:
- Certificate III in Horticulture (Arboriculture) or equivalent
- Chainsaw Operators Certificate (Level 1 / 2)
- Heavy Rigid Vehicle License with experience driving above 15 tonnes, GCM
- High Risk Work License for Elevated Work Platforms
- Traffic Management Certificate
- Certificate II ESI Powerline Vegetation Control
- Current Victorian Driver's License
- Current Working with Children Check
- No relevant criminal record in a Police Check
