Interior Design Director

Role Overview:

As a senior leader within our global design practice, you will provide strategic and operational oversight to ensure integration of our Interior Design teams across regions. This role involves overseeing the execution of interior design projects with the right talent in place for success, from both a design and financial perspective.

You will play a key part in driving our leading edge design outcomes, innovation and commitment to environmental and social sustainability.

Acting as a trusted advisor, you will engage closely with clients to create strategies that nurture and grow existing relationships. In addition, you will monitor and act on strategic market opportunities to develop new client relationships that drive project work and conversion of project opportunities.

About the Job:

This is an exciting opportunity to lead high-profile, large-scale interior design projects while fostering collaboration and creativity among team members. As a seasoned professional with extensive experience in the private sector, you will bring a deep understanding of commercial acumen, contractual matters, and negotiation skills to this role.

Key responsibilities include setting clear standards and expectations within the team, managing complex projects involving various stakeholders, and delivering benchmark projects. You will also be responsible for exercising effective judgment within constrained time-scales and resources.

Requirements:

  • At least 20 years' post-qualification experience with the majority in the private sector.
  • A track record of delivering medium to large-scale projects where significant design input was recognized.
  • Strong commercial acumen and understanding of commercial and financial components of major projects with accountability for financial performance.
  • In-depth understanding of contractual matters for large-scale projects.
  • Experience leading in client, consultant, and construction contractor negotiations and subsequent contract implementation.
  • Ability to set clear standards and expectations within the team and take necessary steps to ensure their delivery.
  • Highly developed negotiating skills with the ability to influence decision-makers at the highest level.
  • Ability to manage complex projects involving various stakeholders and deliver benchmark projects.
  • Ability to exercise effective judgment within constrained time-scales and resources.
  • Ideal candidate has received award recognition from professional or other organizations.
