A leading mechanical services contractor is seeking a senior HVAC design engineer to join their team in Sydney.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a practical and experienced design engineer to work with the company's modelling, project management, and site construction teams.

The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and defending HVAC designs that meet client requirements and comply with relevant codes and regulations.

  • Main Responsibilities:
  • Develop positive relationships with team members, clients, consultants, and sub-contractors;
  • Communicate complex issues effectively through strong written and verbal skills;
  • Review concept designs for value management opportunities and take them from heat loads and ventilation calculations to equipment sizing and selection, scheduling, air and water schematics, floor duct and pipe designs, and coordination of the design for issue of For Construction drawings, site inspections, witnessing commissioning, and final certification sign-off;
  • Understand and apply National Construction Code's DtS requirements, including passive fire rating and Australian Standards AS 1668.1 and AS 1668.2;
  • Create, implement, and witness the operation of a mechanical services Fire Matrix for a project;
  • Mentor, train, and develop graduate engineers in the business;
About You

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Requirements:
  • A degree in mechanical engineering recognised by Engineers Australia;
  • No less than ten years of experience in HVAC design and construction, preferably in a similar mechanical services contractor design role;
  • Extensive heat load calculation experience using CAMEL or equivalent;
  • Proficiency in Excel and Bluebeam software;

$150,000 - $180,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus superannuation and benefits. The salary range reflects the estimated compensation for this role based on industry standards in Sydney.
