Job Title: Community Engagement Specialist

Role Summary:

The Community Engagement Specialist will play a vital role in designing and delivering culturally sensitive programs and activities that cater to the diverse interests and needs of detainees within an Immigration Detention Facility.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement structured programs and activities that promote detainee wellbeing and enhance their mental health
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to promote access to recreational equipment and maintain accurate records
  • Foster inclusivity and respect for diverse backgrounds by facilitating access to educational and spiritual activities
  • Contribute innovative ideas to the P&A schedule and respond to detainee feedback
  • Cultivate partnerships with external stakeholders to promote detainee health and wellbeing
Requirements:
  • Proven experience in managing and delivering structured programs or activities
  • Exceptional organisational and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Current First Aid and CPR qualifications (or ability to obtain)
  • Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse individuals
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations and demonstrate cultural sensitivity
