About This Role

As a seasoned Purchasing Specialist, you will be responsible for sourcing and procuring merchandise, promoting product ranges, and driving organisational KPIs across multiple locations.

This role requires strong supplier relationships, negotiation skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities. You will work closely with inventory analysts to ensure stock levels are maintained within budget, and collaborate with sales crews to provide expert product knowledge.

  • Familiarise yourself with sales trends and forecasts.
  • Work with suppliers to execute upcoming product launches and special offers.
  • Negotiate prices, rebates, and advertising assistance with suppliers.
  • Collaborate with stores to understand customer trends and requirements.
  • Clear slow-moving stock with store managers and marketing staff.
  • Control purchases to maintain stock levels within budget.
  • Coach sales crew on product features and benefits.
Your Key Accountabilities
  • Achieve weekly sales targets.
  • Achieve weekly gross margin targets.
  • Manage stock levels at the chain, store, and aged stock levels.
  • Execute product launches and promotions.
  • Demonstrate core buying skills and competencies.
  • Negotiate best terms with suppliers.
  • Maintain positive relationships with suppliers and stores.
Requirements
  • A minimum of 5 years in retail buying or a similar role.
  • Experience in a portfolio of comparable size and complexity.
  • Multi-country and multi-region experience.
  • Ability to create business cases for senior management.
  • Knowledge of international brands.
  • High numeracy skills.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and time management skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.
