About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Officer to join our team at RMIT University. As a Casual Sessional, you will provide support to teachers and occasionally students in a machine workshop environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support to teachers and students in a machine workshop environment.
  • Assist senior technical staff with servicing machinery and preparing materials.
  • Work collaboratively as an effective and flexible member of the team.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with all relevant stakeholders.
  • Provide customer service to staff and/or HDR candidates where required.
  • Undertake other duties in various areas as required from time to time.

Requirements:

  • Strong practical skills and experience with a wide range of hand and power tools.
  • Ability to work closely with diverse teams, but also autonomously.
  • Ability to prioritise workload and deadlines.
  • Specific knowledge or experience in working machine workshop/s will be advantageous.
  • Excellent time management skills, with good analytical skills and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to work autonomously and in a team environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to build and maintain collaborative working relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to use information and communication technologies effectively, including Microsoft Office software packages, web and email software, database use.
  • Steel capped boots are required for the role.
