About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Casual Technical Officer to join our team at RMIT University.

As a Casual Technical Officer, you will provide support to teachers and occasionally students in a machine workshop environment, helping senior technical staff service machinery and prepare materials.

You will work collaboratively as an effective and flexible member of the team, maintaining effective working relationships with all relevant stakeholders and providing customer services to staff and/or HDR candidates where required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support to teachers and students in a machine workshop environment.
  • Assist senior technical staff with servicing machinery and preparing materials.
  • Work collaboratively with the team to achieve goals and objectives.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders.
  • Provide customer services to staff and/or HDR candidates.

Requirements:

  • Strong practical skills and experience with a wide range of hand and power tools.
  • Ability to work closely with diverse teams and autonomously.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and deadlines.
  • Specific knowledge or experience in working machine workshops will be advantageous.
  • Excellent time management skills and good analytical skills and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to work autonomously and in a team environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to build and maintain collaborative working relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to use information and communication technologies effectively.
