We are seeking a results-driven Operations Manager to lead our terminal operations team. As an experienced leader, you will be responsible for managing shift operations, ensuring safety and efficiency in the movement of cargo through our facility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and supervise large-scale 24/7 operational teams to achieve outstanding performance and productivity.
  • Coach and develop operational staff on performance, conduct, and compliance with industrial agreements.
  • Implement and enforce robust Health Safety Environment (HSE) standards, investigate incidents, and promote a strong safety culture within the team.
  • Develop and execute vessel operations plans, coordinating quay crane activities and maintaining accurate operational records.
  • Support landside operations, including truck turnaround, bulk runs, and yard optimization.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders such as shipping lines, transport companies, government authorities, and contractors to drive business growth.
  • Monitor and manage operational costs, including labour usage, call-ins, and equipment allocation within budget.
  • Drive continuous improvement in shift Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), including Gross Movements Per Hour (GMPH), Truck Turnaround Time (TTT), Ship-to-Shore Crane (SCR), and workforce efficiency.
Qualifications and Experience
  • A tertiary qualification in business, logistics, engineering, or equivalent industry experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in terminal operations within the transport, marine, or stevedoring sectors.
  • Proven leadership in managing high-performing operational teams.
  • Experience in container or bulk port operations with a strong understanding of vessel and yard workflows.
  • Skill in managing industrial relations within unionized environments.
  • Strong knowledge of cargo handling procedures, terminal operating systems (e.g., Navis N4, XPS), and workforce systems (e.g., Microster).
  • A solid understanding of stevedoring-related legal, commercial, and contractual obligations.
  • Familiarity with Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) legislation, MO32, and terminal safety policies and procedures.

This role requires excellent communication skills, a commitment to safety and continuous improvement, and a proven track record of delivering results in a fast-paced operational environment.
