Health and Environmental Safety Professional

Thales is seeking an experienced professional to oversee the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) activities across the organization.
The HSE Manager will ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, lead safety initiatives, and foster a culture of responsibility. This is a full-time permanent role based in Sydney.
Key Responsibilities:- Ensure compliance with HSE regulations, communicate gaps, and implement corrective actions.
- Identify HSE risks and establish controls to manage them effectively.
- Maintain and review competency, certification, and training records, halting work where necessary.
- Implement and monitor HSE policies and procedures.
- Lead health, safety, and environmental initiatives for the Country Business Unit.
- Provide safety leadership for construction activities and high-risk operations.
- Investigate and report incidents, ensuring appropriate follow-up actions.
- Track HSE performance and report on KPIs and objectives.
- Manage and develop the HSE team to meet business needs.
- Degree or Diploma in Health, Safety, and Environment.
- Certificate IV in Frontline Management.
- Experience in senior HSE roles, preferably in high-risk industries.
- Knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and relevant legislation.
- Experience in mental health and well-being initiatives.
- Strong communication skills and ability to influence across all levels.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
- Willingness to travel across Australia.
- Requirement to be on site at least three days a week.
