Job Description

Maas Group is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Health, Safety & Environmental Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our Civil Projects department, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the health, safety, and environmental well-being of our employees, clients, and contractors.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Work Health and Safety legislation, as well as experience in developing and implementing Health and Safety / Environmental strategies. They will also possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement Health and Safety / Environmental strategies to ensure projects are delivered in line with legislative and client requirements
  • Coordinate the Health and Safety / Environmental framework, including the administration of KPIs, targets, and processes for Health and Safety and environmental performance
  • Collaborate with staff to improve hazard inspections and internal audit processes on Health and Safety / Environmental hazards and risks
  • Conduct Risk Assessments, develop and review SWMS, EWMS, undertake hazard reporting, and proactive safety measures
  • Coordinate the chemical safety within the workplace and actively manage to reduce associated risks

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Rlevant qualifications (at a minimum CERT IV or Diploma in Work Health & Safety and / or Environment)
  • Strong understanding of Work Health Safety and Environmental Legislation
  • Strong knowledge of acts, regulations, codes of practice, and standards
  • Operating knowledge of Heavy Plant & Equipment would be beneficial
  • Experience in Health and Safety / Environment - preferably on project work
  • Previous exposure in internal and external auditing
  • Intermediate to advanced computer literacy in Microsoft Office programs and systems e.g. SharePoint
  • Superior written and verbal communication with the ability to converse with a wide variety of people
