This role oversees health, safety, environment, and quality aspects around ongoing projects. The HSEQ Specialist will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company's policies, procedures, guidelines, and technical specifications in relation to health, safety, environment, and quality.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and implement local policies, procedures, guidelines, and technical specifications related to health, safety, environment, and quality.
- Review and negotiate with contractors on health, safety, and environment-related elements for major and minor contracts.
- Establish and review budgets for projects to ensure effective implementation of health, safety, and environment initiatives.
- Review contractor management plans against company standards and regulative framework.
- Monitor contractor performance to ensure compliance with minimum health, safety, and environment requirements during the tender process.
- Coordinate with site teams to control and update health, safety, and environment documentation as needed.
- Implement and monitor initiatives aimed at improving safety and environmental standards.
- Prepare periodic reporting of KPIs to manage safety and environmental issues in compliance with company requirements and local regulations.
- Participate in investigations of accidents/incidents by analyzing information, determining root causes, identifying risk control measures, and formulating reports and action plans for further implementation.
- Organize internal audits, inspections with contractors and subcontractors to verify the effectiveness of the health, safety, and environment management system.
- Maintain compliance reporting of internal audit, client audit, external audit, and tracking systems.
- Conduct site visits to eliminate or reduce risks of occupational health and safety and/or environmental hazards in work activities.
- E nsure compliance of design deliverables with reference to safety and environment aspects.
This role is based at our Sydney office with travel to project sites when required. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years' experience in HSE roles within construction &/or Operation & Maintenance, including hazard identification and risk assessment expertise, root cause analysis techniques in incident investigation, and experience in training as an auditor for management systems.
