The Role
As the Business and Security Advisor, you will be the lead Security Officer for the Destroyer, Guided System Program Office (DDG SPO). You will also work extensively in records management and broader administrative activities, including inbox and office management, procurement of goods and services, auditing and reporting, and customer service inquiries and assistance. You will be accountable under limited direction to perform and achieve complex procedural, operational administrative and business support work within an integrated workforce. You will manage staff, set work priorities, manage workflow, and resources. You will build team capacity, and will review and develop the quality of work within your scope. You will exercise the associated people and financial responsibilities to achieve work unit outcomes. You will provide detailed administrative professional and policy advice in relation to complex work and contribute to strategic planning and policy development. You will need to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting 1 security clearance. This is a desk-based position in a collaborative team environment.

About our Team
The DDG SPO is part of the Major Surface Ships Branch (MSS) within Maritime Sustainment Division (MSD) and the Naval Shipbuilding and Sustainment Group (NSSG). The DDG SPO leads the Destroyer Enterprise in sustaining the Hobart Class DDGs: HMAS Hobart (III), HMAS Brisbane (III) and HMAS Sydney (V). You will be a valued member of the Business Management Team (BMT) within the SPO. The BMT is strongly committed to value adding to the business, and driving strategic efficiencies and innovation within the SPO. The BMT delivers a broad range of administrative services to DDG SPO including security management, office management, reporting, records management, facilities management, and Quality and Assurance. Reporting to and assisting the EL1 Business Manager, the Business and Security Advisor will also be responsible for managing a small team.

Our Ideal Candidate
You will have an extensive background in Security with a sound understanding of records management as you will be the lead Security Officer for the SPO, and will be an administrator for Defence's mandatory data management system (Objective) for DDG SPO. You will be a team player with excellent written, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills and the ability to liaise with a broad range of stakeholders, including contractors, APS, and ADF members. You will be someone who genuinely fosters a curiosity for innovative possibilities and an enthusiasm to learn and drive change in order to gain efficiencies. You will display an ability to learn rapidly and adapt quickly to changing complex situations and uncertainty. Finally, you will be comfortable and confident taking ownership of outcomes and leading tasks to completion and success.
