Electro Optics Systems Specialist

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled electro optics systems specialist to lead the development of cutting-edge electro-optical technologies.

This role involves collaborating with international experts, undertaking advanced technical design studies, and integrating technologies including optics, imaging sensors, processing electronics, stabilisation mechanisms, and control algorithms into high-performance solutions.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead electro-optical design studies, architecture definition, technology evaluations, and system performance assessments.
  • Define high-level system requirements and develop comprehensive subsystem specifications.
  • Develop models and simulations to validate system performance under real-world conditions.
  • Assess technologies across optics, sensors, electronics, and mechanical subsystems, integrating them effectively.
  • Work closely with international experts and suppliers, ensuring robust and innovative system designs.
  • Lead design reviews, manage technical documentation, and oversee compliance assessments.
  • Participate in risk analysis, cost estimation, and strategic planning for system production and deployment.
Requirements:

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Optics, Physics, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in optronic or electro-optical systems, including imaging payloads, stabilised gimbals, tracking systems, or optical sensors.
  • Strong understanding of optical system principles, focal plane arrays (MWIR, SWIR, LWIR), sensor electronics, image processing, and real-time systems.
  • Familiarity with relevant modelling and simulation tools.
  • Proven capability to lead technical integration activities and manage interdisciplinary challenges.
  • Must hold BASELINE security clearance on commencement, with the ability to obtain NV1.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience in Defence, Aerospace, or Space sectors.
  • Knowledge of military or regulatory system development standards.
  • Understanding of stabilisation technologies, servo control, or embedded real-time systems.
  • Proven track record in managing technology maturation from concept through to prototype.
