Lead Production Operations Specialist

The Lead Production Operations Specialist will oversee the execution of the mine's operational plan, leading a team to meet key performance objectives in safety, environment, cost, and equipment performance.

This role requires effective communication strategies, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to site safety and operational best practices.

  1. Manage Shift Undermanagers and Engineering Coordinators to support the safe and efficient implementation of the mine plan.
  2. Review compliance with the daily plan and ensure corrective actions have taken place.
  3. Liaise with other Superintendents to achieve Business Targets.
  4. Provide input into annual business planning processes.
  5. Facilitate Production team meetings.
  6. Develop effective Communication strategies for the Production team.
  7. Establish clear boundaries of responsibility and accountability for all team members.

Candidates should possess:

  • A Diploma in Underground Coal Mining Management or related field.
  • A Current Practising Certificate.
  • At least 10 years of management experience in the mining industry or similar.
  • Risk Management qualifications (G2/G3).
  • Knowledge of ICAM basics – Accident/Incident Investigation.
  • A Certificate IV in Leadership & Management.
  • A strong understanding of mine safety and environmental systems.
  • Sound computer literacy skills and geological/geotechnical knowledge.
  • An excellent work ethic and attendance record.
  • A commitment to site safety and operational best practices.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, suited to multiple audiences.
