
Animal Shelter Operations Manager

This position oversees the daily functions of an animal shelter, ensuring both the well-being of animals and staff members are prioritized in a secure, empathetic environment. Key responsibilities include driving continuous improvement initiatives, supporting staff growth and development, planning, and collaborating with the community to educate and inspire.
Main Responsibilities:
- Oversee animal care, impounding, rehoming, and compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Supervise a team, including rostering, task allocation, and performance evaluation.
- Handle challenging or emotional customer interactions in a public-facing setting.
- Coach staff, engage with stakeholders, and promote a positive team culture.
- Prioritize tasks, make decisions under pressure, and deliver results.
- Maintain accurate records and system usage (e.g., Shelter Buddy and NSW Pet Registry).
Requirements:
- Certificate III in Companion Animal Services (or equivalent experience) and Cert IV in Leadership and Management, or 2 years of relevant experience.
- Proven leadership skills, strong shelter operations knowledge, customer service expertise, excellent communication skills, high-level organisational skills, and sound knowledge of workplace health and safety responsibilities.
- Ability to undergo a pre-employment medical check prior to commencement and hold a C Class Driver's License.
