Shelter Operations Manager

As a Shelter Operations Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a local animal shelter. You will work closely with staff to ensure that both animals and employees thrive in a safe, compassionate environment.

Main Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement operational strategies to improve shelter efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Manage animal care, impounding, rehoming, and compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Lead and supervise a team of staff members, including rostering, task allocation, and performance management.
  • Provide excellent customer service, handling challenging or emotional customer interactions in a public-facing environment.
Key Qualifications
  • Certificate III in Companion Animal Services (or equivalent experience) and Cert IV in Leadership and Management.
  • Proven leadership skills, including supervising a small team and managing animal care operations.
  • Strong organisational skills, ability to prioritise tasks and make decisions under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to engage with stakeholders and foster a positive team culture.
  • Sound knowledge of WHS responsibilities and commitment to safety, ethical conduct, and animal welfare.
