As a specialist in anti-doping analysis, you will be part of a high-performing team that plays a critical role in the national economy. The team leads, maintains and regulates Australia's measurement system, delivering premium measurement products, expert advice and client services. Your work will contribute to the department's purpose of enabling a productive, resilient and sustainable economy, enriched by science and technology.

About the Role

The Chemical and Biological Metrology Branch provides authoritative measurement standards such as certified reference materials, including pure chemicals, gas standards, matrix materials and DNA standards. The branch also coordinates proficiency testing programs to assist laboratories assess their ongoing quality and performance. You will work on tasks under tight deadlines while ensuring delivery of high-quality services to stakeholders is maintained.

Key Responsibilities
  • Demonstrated experience with gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry (GC-MS) and/or liquid chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry (LC-MS)
  • Instrument operation, maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Sample preparation and analysis of small molecules in biological matrices (urine and blood) as it relates to anti-doping testing
  • Familiarity with ISO 17025 accreditation requirements, WADA International Standard for Laboratories and technical documents related to operations of laboratory and the analysis of small molecules prohibited by WADA
  • Oral and written communication skills and ability to work productively in a team and independently to ensure smooth workflow for the team
