Full-Time Stud Hand Position

We are seeking a highly experienced and capable staff member to join our team on a full-time basis.

About the Role:
  • Caring for thoroughbred horses residing on the property is a crucial aspect of this role.
  • The successful applicant will be responsible for assisting with the education, maintenance, and improvement of horse behavior and fitness.
  • Preparing horses for breeding and selling purposes is also a key responsibility.
  • The individual in this position will provide basic care for breeding horses, sick, and injured horses under veterinary supervision.

This role requires a minimum of 2 years of full-time professional experience handling and working with thoroughbred horses. Essential skills include proven knowledge and experience in horse handling methods specific to the thoroughbred breeding industry, oral and written communication skills, and sound knowledge of health and safety obligations.

This is a full-time position that requires a minimum commitment of at least 2 years. The salary will be as per the Award, in the range of $47,000 - $55,000 per annum, plus Superannuation.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Providing exceptional care and handling of thoroughbred horses.
  2. Assisting with the development and implementation of training programs to improve horse behavior and fitness.
  3. Preparing horses for breeding and selling purposes through various tasks and activities.
  4. Providing basic care and support to breeding horses, sick, and injured horses under veterinary supervision.
Requirements:
  • A minimum of 2 years of full-time professional experience handling and working with thoroughbred horses.
  • Proven knowledge and experience in horse handling methods specific to the thoroughbred breeding industry.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Sound knowledge of health and safety obligations.
