Job Description

The role of a Senior Technical Support Specialist involves providing high-level technical support to users of various applications. This includes resolving complex issues, driving improvements in stability, efficiency, and effectiveness, and maintaining application systems that have completed the development stage.

Key responsibilities include performing same-day risk reconciliations, developing and maintaining technical support documentation, identifying ways to maximize the potential of applications used, assessing risk and impact of production issues, and ensuring storage and archiving procedures are in place and functioning correctly.

Additionally, this role requires formulating and defining scope and objectives for complex application enhancements and problem resolution, reviewing and developing application contingency planning to ensure availability to users, and partnering with appropriate development and production support areas to prioritize bug fixes and support tooling requirements.

Other key duties include participating in application releases, from development, testing, and deployment into production, engaging in post-implementation analysis to ensure successful system design and functionality, considering implications of the application of technology to the current environment, and identifying risks, vulnerabilities, and security issues.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Experience in an Application Support role
  • Experience installing, configuring or supporting business applications
  • Knowledge/experience of problem Management Tools
  • Good all-round technical skills
  • Effective written and verbal communications including ability to explain technical issues in simple terms that non-IT staff can understand
  • Ability to plan and organize workload
