The Role

This exceptional leadership position presents a unique chance for a seasoned Health Information Manager to become a pivotal member of the Healthscope organization during a transformative period. Key initiatives that this role will significantly contribute to include: the transition to a digital medical record system, the enhancement of our coding education initiatives, and the establishment of a National Clinical Documentation Improvement Program and Function.

The National Health Information Manager will oversee compliance and performance related to our Coding and Clinical Documentation across the entire Revenue Cycle. This encompasses responsibility for data governance, mandatory reporting, privacy concerns, and the management of Clinical Documentation portfolios. As a leader in healthcare, reporting directly to the Group General Manager – Revenue Cycle Management, you will collaborate with cross-functional operational teams from various sectors of the organization, including our network of hospitals, to drive change, develop frameworks, policies, and guidelines aimed at optimizing the governance of Health Information management.

Supported by a dedicated team of Health Information Managers across all states and territories, this role enjoys robust backing at both operational and strategic levels. Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will be a proven leader with extensive experience in managing high-performance teams at both operational and strategic levels. A deep understanding of health funding models, national and state health records legislation, clinical coding, and documentation, along with the ability to leverage data, analytics, and reporting, will be crucial for success in this role.

To qualify for this position, candidates should possess:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management (or equivalent)
  • Over 10 years of experience in senior leadership roles overseeing coding, Health Information Systems, auditing, and/or quality functions within a healthcare environment.
  • Eligibility for full membership with the Health Information Management Association of Australia
  • Post-graduate qualifications in Management, Business, Commerce, Education, Health Information, or Clinical Coding (preferred)
  • Leadership experience in the private healthcare sector (preferred)
