Position Overview

This exceptional leadership opportunity is tailored for a seasoned Health Information Manager to become a pivotal member of the Healthscope organization during a transformative phase. The successful candidate will be instrumental in key initiatives such as the transition to a digital medical record system, the enhancement of our coding education program, and the establishment of a National Clinical Documentation Improvement Program and Function.

The National Health Information Manager will oversee compliance and performance related to Coding and Clinical Documentation throughout our extensive Revenue Cycle. This role encompasses responsibilities for data governance, mandatory reporting, privacy, and the management of Clinical Documentation portfolios. As a leader in healthcare, reporting directly to the Group General Manager – Revenue Cycle Management, you will collaborate with cross-functional operational teams across the organization, including our network of hospitals, to drive change and develop frameworks, policies, and guidelines that enhance the governance of Health Information management.

Supported by a dedicated team of Health Information Managers across all states and territories, this position enjoys robust operational and strategic backing. Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will be a proven leader with extensive experience in managing high-performance teams at both operational and strategic levels. A deep understanding of health funding models, state and national health records legislation, clinical coding, and documentation, along with the ability to leverage data, analytics, and reporting, will be critical for success in this role.

To qualify for this position, candidates should possess:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management (or equivalent)
  • Over 10 years of experience in senior leadership roles overseeing coding, Health Information Systems, auditing, and/or quality functions within a healthcare environment.
  • Eligibility for full membership with the Health Information Management Association of Australia
  • Post-graduate Management qualifications in Business, Commerce, Education, Health Information, or Clinical Coding (preferred)
  • Leadership experience in the private health sector (preferred)
