About the Role

CHC Helicopter is seeking a highly skilled Flight Operations Application Specialist to join its team in Perth, Western Australia. As a key member of the IT department, you will be responsible for the support and upkeep of Flight Ops systems, including iSar and AIMS.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide primary support for flight operations applications, ensuring seamless functionality and minimal downtime.
  • Act as a liaison between business system owners and technical staff, interpreting needs into specifications and delivering solutions.
  • Develop and implement global standards for systems training, including train-the-trainer programs and go-live support.
  • Test and troubleshoot issues with iSar and AIMS, working closely with operations teams to resolve problems.
  • Add and modify restrictions to iSar and AIMS based on user needs, ensuring compliance with aviation regulations.
  • Collaborate with 3rd party vendors and internal IT teams to deliver business outcomes, gathering requirements and developing solutions.
  • Ensure products meet CHC's global operations standards, adhering to AOC regulations and driving modern technologies like digitization and integration.
  • Maintain application-specific configuration and training documentation, developing end-to-end test scenarios and working with business teams on UAT testing.
  • Work in a support/sustainment environment, as well as project-based environments, driving timely resolution of issues and tickets.
  • Support may be required during off-peak hours for critical operational issues, working collaboratively with various IT and business stakeholders.
  • Develop knowledge documentation for the IT Service Desk team and perform other duties as assigned.
  • Global travel up to 50% may be required for system rollouts, reducing to 25% after sustained rollout.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Services, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 3 years supporting iSar and AIMS or comparable flight operations software.
  • Prior experience as an IT application developer or business analyst preferred.
  • Experience understanding aviation regulations, standards, and their application to flight operations.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in the aviation industry with operational experience, including flying, engineering, or business operations.
  • Verbal and written communication skills, along with a sense of resilience.
  • Operationally focused with sufficient working knowledge of contract terms and conditions.
  • Strong communication, computer, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work across multiple levels of IT and business, as well as global time zones, as required.
  • Working knowledge of application front-end, middle-tier, and backend technologies.
