Join a pioneering sustainability team and contribute to a decarbonized future.
Australia Post is driving towards a more sustainable future, striving for excellence in environmental stewardship. Our vehicles, small businesses, and communities thrive through our collective efforts. We're committed to the environment, customers, and people.
We lead the way in delivering on our roadmap, focusing on reducing emissions and enhancing customer value.
Our Sustainability Journey
We're one of Australia's biggest and most trusted businesses, with a responsibility to create a better future for all Australians. Our 2025 Sustainability Roadmap outlines our plan to achieve this goal.
The UN Sustainable Development Goals underpin our roadmap, connecting with our enterprise strategy and built around six key initiatives. Our values describe the culture we need to succeed.
This includes ambitious decarbonisation goals that will help Australia Post reduce its emissions. We've invested in an electric delivery fleet, solar panels, and energy-efficient lights. We've diverted e-waste and are working towards Net Zero by 2025.
By further investments in renewable energy, reducing waste and expanding our sustainable packaging range, we'll reach our target of Net Zero as a business. This will help our customers achieve their Scope 3 emissions targets.
About the Opportunity
We're looking for a Decarbonisation Specialist with a Sustainability Mindset who can execute, track, and report on our projects.
You'll work with key team members to make changes that will achieve our goals. This role is about delivering on our plan, making tangible impacts you can look back on.
What You Can Deliver With Us
In 5 years, you'll be looking back at incredible personal growth, a massive increase in electric vehicle usage, decreased fuel consumption, and a radical impact on the decarbonisation agenda of one of Australia's largest companies.
You'll also
- Shepherd individual decarbonisation projects, project managing them to embedding the particular change.
- Support the execution of the sustainability roadmap; striving to reach achievements contained within.
- Lead environmental considerations into key business unit activities.
- Work with internal and external stakeholders to identify opportunities to reduce our environmental impact and enhance customer value.
- Provide business units with practical advice and information.
About You
You'll be a committed sustainability professional, with experience demonstrating your ability to drive change within a business. You'll need to work with stakeholders to show them the benefits of change, sell the need for change, and have tenacity to help drive it through layers of an organisation.
You'll also need
- Knowledge of environmental sustainability strategy, its context, and relevant policies at a state, national, and global level.
- Comprehensive knowledge of environmental impact management, including energy, waste management, impacts to land, air, and water. Any experience in the transport industry is highly desirable (not essential though).
- Excellent communication skills across different media. You'll be able to present in person, on video calls, and make convincing arguments in writing. You'll be able to liaise at different levels and use a high degree of empathy to understand stakeholders incentives.
Why Apply?
An opportunity to have a tangible impact on Australia Post's scope 1 emissions. We've reduced them from 131,026 tonnes CO2e to 121,613 tonnes between 2022 and 2024, and you could help increase the velocity of that reduction.
A strong culture of collaboration and respect, in a business where sustainability has been prioritised.
