Overview

We are seeking experienced and enthusiastic professionals to fill key policy advisor roles. The successful candidates will provide high-quality analysis, briefings, and logistical support for senior-level meetings.

The Role

This is an exciting time to be working on the visitor economy and tourism policy. The tourism industry directly employs over 713,000 people, with 1 in 7 businesses related to tourism.

The Visitor Economy Covers

  • Domestic and international tourism
  • International student, business, employment-related, and leisure travelers
  • Visiting friends and relatives
  • Associated industries such as hospitality, aviation, attractions, travel agents, and tour operators, transport, retail, arts, culture, sport, and accommodation

We lead the development of tourism and visitor economy policy, deliver a range of tourism grants, and provide official tourism statistics. Our policy branches work closely with government agencies, states, territories, industry, and researchers to achieve effective policy outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparing evidence-based policy advice, briefings, and correspondence for senior executives to achieve visitor economy outcomes
  • Delivering effective research and analysis and collaborating with stakeholders in industry, government, and academia
  • Providing secretariat support for whole-of-government and national committees, including the Tourism Ministers' Meeting and Australian Standing Committee on Tourism
  • Managing complex projects in uncertain environments
  • Being agile, a team player, and contributing to other divisional priorities as needed
