Job Overview

The role of Senior Paediatric Speech Pathologist involves leading a caseload and providing evidence-based intervention strategies, standardised assessments, and parent training to enhance communication and participation in social and educational settings for children.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver face-to-face consultation and relationship-building in various environments, including schools, kindergartens, offices, and therapy spaces.
  • Liaise with a multidisciplinary team to design and deliver comprehensive support plans.
  • Provide key worker support and advice to families and children regarding speaking, listening, language understanding, fluency, and social skills.
  • Conduct discipline-specific assessments and interventions for children aged 0-12 years and their families with diverse disabilities.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Speech Pathology with current registration and ongoing membership with Speech Pathology Australia, accompanied by at least 4 years' experience in managing, supervising, and leading staff.
  • Knowledge and expertise in assessing children from 0 to 12 with varied clinical and developmental needs.
  • The ability to establish trusting working relationships with both children and families, as well as the Early Intervention and Therapy Service team.
  • A commitment to continuous quality improvement, enabling ongoing learning and growth within a high-performing team.
  • Familiarity with the assessment and prescription of assistive technology to support communication needs.
  • The ability to manage own caseload effectively to meet consumer needs and organisational KPIs.
  • A valid Victorian Driver's Licence is required due to outreach visits involving schools, kindergartens, and home sessions.
