Key Role in Anaesthesia Care

We are seeking a highly skilled anaesthetist to support our surgical and critical care services.

As a key member of the team, you will provide comprehensive anaesthetic services across multiple operating theatres, supporting a broad range of elective and emergency procedures.

  • Elective Procedures:
  • Orthopaedics – Hip and Knee replacement, general orthopaedic procedures
  • General Surgery – Laparoscopic cholecystectomy, towel resections, hernia repairs, excision of skin lesions and gastroenterology cases.
  • Dental Surgery
  • Urology procedures
  • Obstetrics and Gynaecology – including support for labour epidurals.

The hospital is a level 4 service providing anaesthesia for patients undergoing selected complex major surgical procedures. You will also provide anaesthesia for patients undergoing common and intermediate surgeries.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Providing high-quality anaesthesia services for patients undergoing elective and emergency surgeries.
  2. Contributing to the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to anaesthesia practice.
  3. Participating in quality improvement initiatives within the department.
  4. Providing education and training to junior staff members.
  5. Collaborating with other departments to ensure seamless patient care.

Requirements:

  • A primary medical degree registrable with AHPRA and Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA), and/or overseas trained specialist pathways.
  • Evidence of being a medical expert, demonstrated by recent and comprehensive experience in Anaesthesia.
  • Evidence of being a scholar, maintains medical professional development and has the ability to assist other staff, including trainees in the acquisition and development of knowledge.
  • Evidence of being a skilled communicator, including both oral and written skills, communicating with patients, students, other health professionals and the public.
  • Evidence of being a collaborator, including the ability to network and operate within an interdisciplinary framework and to work with other stakeholders in a variety of settings.
  • Evidence of being a manager, including ability to be flexible and cope with a changing health system, past leadership and management experience and previous safety and quality improvement activities.
  • Evidence of being a professional, including continued professional development, peer review and other forms of clinical governance.
  • Evidence of being an advocate, including contributions to improving individual and societal health.
