Principal Community Recovery Officer: A Strategic Leadership Role

About the Role

This leadership position is responsible for developing and implementing strategic plans for community recovery in response to disasters, crises, and incidents. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Queensland's disaster management system and experience in community building, resilience planning, and disaster recovery.

  • Develop and implement strategic plans for community recovery, collaborating with local councils, government departments, and non-government organizations.
  • Provide strategic advice and support to senior leaders in the management and delivery of community recovery services.
  • Analyse disaster events and provide briefings and reports to internal partners and external organizations.

The successful applicant will be required to travel and hold a current open driver's license.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead the development and implementation of community recovery strategies and operational plans.
  2. Collaborate with key stakeholders to plan and implement human and social recovery responses.
  3. Provide strategic advice and support to senior leaders in the management and delivery of community recovery services.
  4. Analyse disaster events and provide briefings and reports to internal partners and external organizations.
Requirements
  • Strong understanding of Queensland's disaster management system.
  • Experience in community building, resilience planning, and disaster recovery.
  • Able to travel and hold a current open driver's license.
