Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia beBeeNeurodiverse Full time $100,000 - $150,000
Empowering Lives as a Support Coach

We're building an inclusive service that caters to neurodivergent and LGBTQIASB+ individuals. Our mission is to provide a safe and supportive environment for people like us, ensuring they feel seen, heard, and empowered.

If you're passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of others, possess lived experience of neurodivergence and/or being part of the LGBTQIASB+ community, and want to be part of a dedicated team, we'd love to meet you.

The Role

As a Peer Support Coach, you'll work closely with individuals who are neurodivergent, queer, disabled, or all of the above, helping them build skills, try new things, and enhance their confidence and connection with the world.

  • You'll accompany someone while they practice social or community activities, promoting a sense of belonging and community.
  • Support someone in becoming more independent with daily tasks, fostering self-reliance and empowerment.
  • Reinforce therapy activities or skill-building goals, enabling individuals to reach their full potential.
  • Help someone get stronger, more mobile, or improve their communication, focusing on holistic growth and development.
  • Encourage, celebrate, and support people as they work toward their goals, providing a nurturing and non-judgmental space.
About You

We're seeking someone kind, thoughtful, and dependable – someone who embodies empathy, respect, and warmth in every interaction. If you have a deep understanding of the communities we serve and the barriers they face, possess excellent communication skills, and can offer a supportive presence, we'd love to hear from you.

  • Lived experience of neurodivergence and/or being LGBTQIASB+
  • Insight into the challenges faced by our community and a commitment to creating change
  • A compassionate and respectful communication style that prioritizes emotional intelligence
  • A driver's license and access to a reliable, insured vehicle (most travel is local, within 30 minutes)
  • Experience in disability support, community work, or a related field (a bonus, but not essential)
What's In It For You

You'll enjoy flexible hours that accommodate your lifestyle, energy levels, and capacity, allowing you to maintain a healthy work-life balance. Our low-pressure environment encourages pacing yourself, asking for breaks, or requesting support whenever needed.

  • An inclusive culture that centres around lived experience, amplifying the voices and perspectives of our community
  • Ongoing training, supervision, and professional development opportunities tailored to your learning style and interests
  • Creative freedom in co-designing and delivering support services that meet the unique needs of our community
  • A platform to share your ideas and feedback, shaping the growth and evolution of our service
