Job Title: Assessment and Support Specialist

 

About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated professional to provide assessment and support services to individuals at risk of homelessness.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • To assess immediate and long-term housing needs for service users who are at risk of homelessness exiting designated facilities.
  • To assist in resolving existing social housing tenancy and other issues on entry to or throughout a period of custodial care.
  • To assess requests and provide financial assistance from established funds.
  • To attend prisons within metropolitan Melbourne region, to interview eligible individuals identified through referral systems.
  • To provide occasional service provision at other custodial facilities managed by our program as required.
  • To foster accessible and culturally sensitive services that meet diverse client and community needs.

 

Requirements:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work, Welfare, or a related field, or relevant experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of homelessness including issues, philosophies, and legislation.
  • The ability to apply homelessness models and practices when dealing with clients.
  • The capacity to respond to the needs of individuals experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness.
  • Knowledge of the justice system and experience working within correctional settings is highly desirable.
