Accounting and Bookkeeping Role Overview

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Financial Accountant or Accounts Assistant to join a reputable company based in the UK. You will be working in a small accounts team, reporting into the company director.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Complete monthly bank reconciliations on a timely basis, ensuring all transactions are allocated and understood.
  • Monthly and Weekly Reporting to management, providing accurate and timely financial information.
  • Prepare bank payment runs and reconciliations, ensuring seamless financial operations.
  • Maintain ledgers in Sage for management and statutory accounting requirements, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
  • Credit Control – Chasing debtors and ensuring balances are collected on a timely basis or appropriately escalated.
  • Preparation of the VAT returns, ensuring accurate and timely submission.
  • Pay creditors on a timely basis, ensuring cashflow of the business is managed on a daily basis.
  • Process payroll on a timely basis, ensuring accurate and timely payment to employees.
  • Work with the business to resolve credit control issues, to ensure that our debtor days are as low as possible, focusing on working capital.
  • Supporting Directors with month end reporting, providing valuable insights and analysis.
  • Keeping Sage up to date, ensuring accurate and timely financial information.

Requirements:

  • At least 3 years' experience in a similar accounts/bookkeeping role, with a strong understanding of financial accounting principles.
  • Experience using Sage 50, with a strong understanding of its features and functionality.
  • Must have experience in Payroll, with a strong understanding of payroll processing and compliance.
  • AAT or equivalent qualification – Desirable.
  • Good level of IT skills, with a strong understanding of Excel spreadsheets and other financial software.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Excellent time management, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
