About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to join our Finance team at the City of Playford. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in supporting the delivery of optimal and sustainable organisational performance.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Financial Systems Administration
  • Maintenance of period control, natural account and cost centre codes
  • Accessing financial systems report distribution
Month End AccountingManagement Reporting
  • Providing assistance to the preparation of management reports
External Audit and Compliance
  • Coordinating the annual external audit process
  • Undertaking reviews for finance governed policies and procedures
Taxation and Compliance
  • Preparing BAS, FBT and ABS returns to meet relevant timeframes
Process Improvement
  • Proactively contributing to the continuous improvement of processes
  • Effective management of continuous improvement projects
Requirements

The successful applicant will ideally be tertiary qualified in Accounting, Commerce, Finance or a related field and hold their CPA and/or CA qualifications (or relevant experience).

Key requirements include:

  • Extensive experience in financial systems management
  • Extensive experience in accounting functions to reporting stage
  • Substantial experience with GST, PAYG, FBT payment and documentation as well as preparation of BAS statements
  • Experience in analysing and interpreting financial and accounting records
  • Highly developed problem-solving skills and ability to exercise initiative and judgement in decision making
  • Advanced computer literacy including Excel skills and application of accounting software
  • Strong communication skills in both verbal and written form, with proven experience in building and maintaining positive relationships with critical internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and autonomously, displaying initiative and flexibility
  • A passion and commitment for delivering positive outcomes for the community
