Buying Team Leader

About The Role:

As a key member of our Buying team, you will be responsible for leading the selection, purchasing and delivery range strategy for assigned brands.

This includes building strong relationships with internal teams and suppliers to achieve successful outcomes.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Delivering against financial targets for assigned brands
  • Maximising sales and profitability through item planning, class planning and markdown management in conjunction with planning
  • Leading the assortment process ensuring brand/s import/vertical ranges are built in line with range architecture
  • Analysing category performance, macro market trends, direct competitor data, customer feedback and store insights to build deep understanding of the customer and the business
  • Negotiating best financial cost for all products
  • Driving operational efficiency through effective seasonal range planning and review process, ensuring adherence to divisional timelines and direction
  • Analysing market trends and sales potential to manage inventory control
  • Participating in planning and advertising to determine sales tactics to achieve objectives in line with Marketing Strategy set by Head of Buying and Head of Planning
  • Ensuring all business activities comply with relevant Acts, legal demands and ethical standards
  • Building, leading and developing high-performing teams capable of delivering current and future organisational strategies
  • Providing leadership and direction to teams, ensuring desired behaviours, attitudes and work practices are understood and consistent with Accent Group values and standards
  • To Succeed In This Role You Will Have:
    • Demonstrated previous experience in similar retail buying roles ideally with retail apparel or footwear
    • A passion for driving sales and achieving profit margins
    • The ability to manage and maintain multiple supplier relationships
    • Proficiency in Excel - analysing data and managing reports
    • Excellent attention to detail and ability to communicate with various stakeholders at all levels
    • Ability to create, plan, monitor and execute multiple reports
    • Excellent time management and organisation skills to manage multiple priorities
    • Ability to problem solve and take initiative
