The position of Senior Property Underwriter is pivotal in underwriting new business and renewals across varying complexity and volume, working within established guidelines, authority levels, and service standards. As a key member of the Melbourne-based Property Underwriting Team, you will collaborate closely with underwriters, providing guidance, sharing expertise, and mentoring team members.

  • Proactively manage your portfolio of new business and renewals, fostering strong relationships with brokers and colleagues to support retention, growth, and profitability.
  • Ensure adherence to all underwriting standards, procedures, and processes through consistent monitoring and review.
  • Deliver timely, professional services and effective solutions to customers and intermediaries.
  • Maintain and develop knowledge of relevant legislation, best practices, underwriting, systems, products, and organisational guidelines.
  • Collaborate effectively with Underwriters and contribute to a supportive team environment.
  • Promote a positive and productive workplace culture through respectful engagement and proactive participation.
About You

To succeed in this role, you will have a proven background in the insurance industry and possess strong Underwriting experience. Key skills and attributes include:

  • A working knowledge of Underwriting in a Property portfolio.
  • Strong customer/broker relationship skills and focus.
  • A thorough understanding of relevant market conditions for specific classes/portfolios.
  • The ability to negotiate and engage in constructive conversations with stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a keen attention to detail.
