The Opportunity

This is a fantastic chance for a senior legal counsel to join the legal team of a large not-for-profit in the education sector, during a period of significant expansion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Providing practical and business-focused solutions to legal issues
  • Advising the Executive Leadership Team, senior system and school leadership, and Board on legal and privacy matters
  • Drafting and reviewing contracts, as well as providing contract-specific and general corporate and commercial advice
  • Representing or coordinating representation of the organisation in family law courts and tribunals
  • Supporting Principals and other leaders in legal issues arising from operational matters, including compliance with court orders
  • Providing legal input on strategic, governance, and administrative matters and sourcing and managing relationships with external providers where external expertise is required
Ideal Candidate
  • Admitted to practice in Australia or New Zealand
  • 5+ years PAE with a reputable firm and/or in-house
  • Experience in family law is essential, and privacy law experience would be advantageous, although training will be provided
  • Excellent negotiation and decision-making skills
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to work confidently with people at all levels within the business
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
